It has two asphalt runways. One is 2,990 meters and the other is 3,660 meters long. Over 21 million passengers passed through the airport in 2021-2022 thanks to the 50-plus airlines that stop at BOM. There are two terminals at the airport with three structures apiece. Terminal 1 handles domestic flights, while Terminal 2 handles international traffic.

BOM was developed from an old 1930s RAF airport and used the abandoned hangars as passenger terminals. It was unable to handle the newer jumbo jets of the 1970s, and the terminals were trying to move more people than they were built for, so the 70s saw growth and change at the airport. In the 2000s, more modernizations were done to the runways, terminals and other existing structures. A new Air Traffic Controller tower is the second tallest in India.

Spots are available for long- and short-term parking. Ground transportation options include metro, buses and rental cars.

What airlines operate passenger services out of Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport?

The following airlines all fly passenger services out of Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport:

Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport Reviews

★★☆☆☆
Chhtrapati Shivaji Airport's terminal 1D (or the domestic terminal) is where Indigo Airlines and other low cost airlines are serviced. And frankly, the terminal is pretty spartan. The WiFi is patchy. The chairs are pretty uncomfortable. And when we went looking for basic dinner options like a sandwich, the food was stale.
- Anindya Banerjee

★★★☆☆
Simply the worst baggage claim in the world. Be prepared to wait for atleast 30-40 minutes after deplaning.
- Anindya Banerjee

★★☆☆☆
Beautiful International Terminal 2 building but consistently let down by appalling delays for baggage retrieval at the carousels......
- Richard Collard

★★☆☆☆
Someone forgot to put in the moving walkways for arriving passengers! Long walk punctuated by short and sporadic moving walkways when other airports would put in long ones to cover the majority of the distance.
- Parks

★★★★☆
Minimum 2 hours drive from downtown (for safe driving). Passengers should be good athlete to cross hurdler starting from Entrance gate to aircraft. I have been checked 2 times (useless) in boarding pass queue, 1 time at airline counter, 4 times in queue for aircraft boarding (3 times unnecessary), Huhhhhhh
- Riyaz Khambaty

★★☆☆☆
Terminal 1 from which the low cost airlines leave is going from bad to worse. The worst is the traffic management. 1. Airport authorities insist on charging 100 bucks to all Ola and Uber taxis. Traffic may go to hell. 2. Three flights landed at the same time, and suddenly there were no luggage trolleys to be found.
- Anindya Banerjee

★☆☆☆☆
Flights are not announced at gate due to "silent airport" rule. Boarding is a disaster, rather than flight staff using the loud speaker to announce flight and boarding, they scream the boarding the info at the crowd of passengers
- Elizabeth Minett

★☆☆☆☆
"Silent Airport" rule is terrible. Flights and boarding info are not announced at the gate, boarding is chaotic and confusing.

★★☆☆☆
Domestic terminal is dirty and not much to do with poor choice of food options - very disappointing every time I fly through here!
