Luxor International Airport is a state-of-the-art international airport located in the heart of Egypt’s Upper Nile Valley. Serving as a major gateway to the country, it is the second busiest airport in Egypt after Cairo International Airport. The facility is owned and operated by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Egypt Airports and has been receiving international charter flights since 1994.

The airport was initially built to serve as a regional air hub for domestic flights within Egypt, but it eventually began to accept international charter flights from Europe, Asia and Africa. Luxor International Airport offers direct access to numerous holiday destinations such as Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh and Aswan. It also serves as an important gateway to ancient sites such as the Valley of Kings, Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple.

The terminal building at Luxor International Airport is modern and designed with comfort and convenience in mind. It features multiple check-in counters equipped with advanced technical equipment that allows efficient aircraft handling operations and passenger services. There are also retail outlets onsite where passengers can purchase souvenirs, snacks and beverages before boarding their flights.

In addition to serving domestic and international passengers, Luxor International Airport also provides cargo services for air freight carriers transporting goods between Egypt’s major cities such as Alexandria and Port Said. The airport’s runway measures 3,930 meters long with a width of 61 meters which can accommodate all types of aircraft up to Boeing 747 size planes. Onboard services include onboard internet access that allow travelers to stay connected while waiting for their flight or during their journey.

Luxor International Airport serves close to 4 million passengers annually while continuing to provide efficient service levels despite its small size compared with other international airports across the world. Security at the airport is strong due to its special security protocols which have been implemented following recent terrorist incidents in other parts of the region. Additionally, there are extensive parking options available for those who wish to drive themselves or use taxis/buses from outside the terminal building upon arrival or departure from Luxor International Airport
