Luxembourg Airport revamps and reopens Terminal B to meet passenger demand

LUXEMBOURG. Luxembourg Airport’s Terminal B has been revamped and re-opened after nine years of closure.

A duty free and fashion store operated by Aelia Duty Free will open later this month, along with a SSP-operated brasserie called ‘LUX Brewery Lounge’. It will offer views of the apron and aircraft.

The revamp of Terminal B was undertaken because of a rapid increase in traffic, the airport said. A +18.2% year-on-year increase in passengers was recorded in the first half of 2017.

The project was completed in 11 months and 20 arrivals and 15 departures were successfully operated by the airport with partner and home-based carrier Luxair in a test phase last week.

Luxembourg Airport CEO Johan Vanneste commented:

“[The re-opening] is another milestone in the history of Luxembourg Airport. Passengers will benefit from the convenient boarding directly at the gates and the comfortable waiting areas.

“Further, we have adapted everything to the traveller of today, providing power and USB sockets to charge electronic devices, introducing new self‐boarding gates, and supplying free and fast Wi-Fi.”

Terminal B will provide nine additional gates, operating flights in the Schengen Area. It is connected to Terminal A through travelators. Check‐in, security, baggage claim and arrivals for all flights remain in Terminal A.
