Kolkata Chandra Bose Airport Reviews

★★☆☆☆
Getting to the Airport is terrible..one should give at 4 hrs advance travel time. Not much to do food court is terrible....no wifi..Airport interiors are too sliver for my liking...some green plants at the departures would be nice. It's the only airport with birds flying inside the terminal. Was horrified to see birds at the airplane parking bay.

★★☆☆☆
When the new terminal was inaugurated I was happy that finally Kolkata would get its share of a new state of the art airport. It seemed all fancy with the glassy exteriors and a good looking terminal approach. The entire thing was faltered once I was in the airport. A faulty WiFi connection, broken lounge chairs, a tiny and a pathetic duty free, no available cafes and eatery outlets, faulty airconditioning, rats in the washroom and cockroaches around.. Hopeless for such a new airport. The funniest and the craziest part was that I had crows and pigeons flying over me in the international terminal building ! Random and crazy. The staff at the airport were less than helpful who were sleeping on the floors at the time when most international flights are scheduled. What nonsense ! Compare that to other international terminals across the country which may be smaller, this airport is an absolute piece of dump. Sorry to say, I have seen this airport with many important connections back in the 1990's. Every year major airlines pull out of this airport due to its lack of infrastructure despite it having enough customers to different parts of the world ! British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa etc. all have withdrawn their services from this ghastly and idiotic terminal which looks all flashy from outside but indeed a garbage bin from the inside. Not even 3 years in full time service and this is what it has become !! God save the city of Kolkata !

I recently visited the airport and must say I was extremely pleased. I find some of the comments by some members very irrelevant particularly of "Srijit Mukherjee". Seems he is stuck in a time capsule and never moved ahead. Yes sir, we know what you talking about and your negative campaign would have suited if u were in 2012. FYI this airport has won awards twice for the best improved airport in 2014 and 2015 by ACI. Making baseless comments won't earn you brownie points. There are many f&b outlets including a pub and fine dining restaurants. There are many in the pipeline to open. The rest rooms are clean and don't smell and has round the clock housekeeping services. The retail outlets are a disappointment however heard that new retail and duty free outlets are going to open soon. The terminal is huge and peaceful. Loved to use the travellator. Well lit and a good patch of green in the airport. The airport needs a lot of colours to make it look zestful and bring out the cheer from the typical steel and glass shades. The check in and check out were quick. Well maintained aerobridges and proper signages. Getting to the airport has improved after opening of the flyover. We have to remember this airport is a government operated one and should not be compared to a private airport however despite that , its one of the best managed airports and a major improvement. Its easier to criticize but working on it makes a lot of difference.

Going to Kolkata airport through Howrah or Kolkata city is really troublesome. Traffic jams are common and you get uneasy feeling while you wait in your cab which is trying to push through traffic. However, once you are out from city, new city area is highly developing zone. You get to Kolkata airport and you feel relaxed with the best of airport facilities. Security checkin and food is awesome. Sweets are available at airport if you forgot to buy some for your loved ones. However, it is costlier for obvious reasons.

★★★★★
Much improved from the earlier terminal. Large, spacious with high ceiling giving it a nice feel. Never too crowded except early morning check in time. Signage and announcements could improve. Food court is good, though small.
- Abir Ghosh

★★★★☆
The arrival halls are practically empty. Many baggage collection belts hardly a couple in use. Getting a taxi was easy but the toilets need to be cleaned !! They cleanliness of washrooms is not upto the mark !
- Srijit Mukherjee

★★★★☆
Used the AI lounge for the first time ! Must admit the lounge has better chairs and recliners now. The complaint made in 2015 has actually gone into the ears of the concerned staff !
- Srijit Mukherjee

★★★★☆
This time the experience was smooth as cream. The security check in was smooth but a little laxed. I found a metallic fork and a spoon in my packed dinner and it went through the security check ! Was foolish of the CISF of letting me board with those two ( obviously, I came to know of that only after I opened my food packet ). P.S the Tata Docomo WiFi worked so well this time ! No glitches :D
- Srijit Mukherjee

★★★★☆
Smooth, quite a regular arrival at Kolkata. The baggage is quick to move and being underutilised its easy to get out and sneak a cab home !

★★★☆☆
The Airport is decent. Much better than the last one. It's clean, yet a bit impersonal. Which is surprising. Most public spaces in West Bengal are pretty aesthetic. There is a shop selling Bengali crafts right at the end of the departure area. It's called Bishya Bengal. If you are the kinds who couldn't shop any local crafts, do visit the shop. You'll get everything from food to crafts. Do visit it.
