Kingston Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) is a major airport and the main airport serving Jamaica. It is located on the waterfront of Kingston Harbour, approximately 10 kilometers east of downtown Kingston in the Palisadoes area. Named after one of Jamaica’s National Heroes, Norman Manley, KIN started operations in 1948 as the world’s first international jetport. Initially it served as a domestic and regional airport, but was later expanded to become Jamaica’s main air hub with direct connections to various parts of the world. Today, it is one of the busiest airports in the Caribbean region with over 6 million annual passengers.
KIN provides nonstop flights to more than 30 destinations in Canada, Europe, South America and other parts of North America and the Caribbean. The airport features three passenger terminals – International Terminal 1, Domestic Terminal 2 and Regional Terminal 3 for charter services. It also has two major runways designated 13L/31R and 13R/31L with a total length of 2550 meters for take-offs and landings.
