“The key is customisation”: Westfield brings contemporary collection of dining and retail outlets to Los Angeles International

USA. Westfield is to open seven dining and retail outlets at Los Angeles International Airport Terminal 3, including four L.A.-based restaurants.

The retail and dining collection at the Delta Air Lines hub covers more than 5,000sq ft of space, and includes a multi-unit quick service food court, a bar, two travel essential outlets and one speciality retail unit.

Westfield’s refresh of Terminal 3 is expected to be completed by end of 2017, and is part of an overall modernisation programme at the airport. Projects at Terminals 2 and 6 were completed by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and Westfield in 2016, while work at the Tom Bradley International Terminal was finalised in 2013.

Three retail units – Moshi, Hudson LAXpress and Soundstage by Hudson – will be operated by Hudson Group. The collection includes a range of accessories, electronics and travel essentials.

“Hudson Group and Dufry are proud to bring fresh and exciting improvements to Terminal 3, which will further transform the travel experience for airport customers in L.A.,” said Hudson Group & Division CEO North America, Dufry President & CEO Joseph DiDomizio.

“We’ve partnered with Westfield and Los Angeles World Airports for many years in Terminals 3, 6 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal, and we’re proud to expand our partnerships with one of the country’s busiest airports.”

The T6 redevelopment featured many design touches that aim to evoke a Sense of Place

The dining collection will be operated by Areas, and is highlighted by LA-based Ashland Hill and The Parlor, which are both making their airport debuts. Ashland Hill offers a selection of Santa Monica cuisine with seasonal dishes and a range of local brews, while The Parlor is described as an iconic L.A. gastro pub offering modern American comfort food. Other local concepts are earthbar, serving California fresh juices, and Panda Express, which offers Chinese cuisine.

“These exciting local brands will give travellers a taste of L.A. and provide more food & beverage and retail options in Terminal 3 following our move at [the airport],” said Delta Air Lines Managing Director-LAX Redevelopment Rob Walker. “Our goal is to create the best airport experience in L.A., and we intend to make that happen in partnership with LAWA and Westfield.”

Areas CEO in the USA Xavier Rabell commented:

“Areas and Westfield have been long-term partners at Los Angeles International that are passionate about improving the experience. Together we have brought travellers iconic local brands that bring a taste of Los Angeles into the airport.”

Westfield Senior Vice President Robert Van Snik said of the seven dining and retail outlets:

“It all starts with the travellers. They crave the right mix of shops and restaurants in the airport. And following the Delta terminal relocation, we knew that the brands coming into Terminal 3 had to be local, contemporary and authentic. The key is customisation. We’re so excited about the new T3 brands and we know Delta travellers will be too.”
