It has one 2,076 meter asphalt runway that served 148,000 passengers in 2020, which is down from its normal 1 million passengers. It only saw 23,000 aircraft movements in 2020, which is 48 percent less than usual. It has one terminal, and seven airlines fly out of the airport, with three of them offering seasonal flights.

EXT opened in 1937 and its first terminal was a tent on the grounds. It became a critical airfield for the RAF during the Battle of Britain, and the U.S. used the airport to transport D-Day troops. At one point during the war, there were so many airplanes that they had to be parked on the grass. EXT also housed the air-sea rescue group for RAF. Once the airport was open to civilian use, charter flights to the Channel Islands started. In 2018, the runway was resurfaced and LED lights were installed.

Parking is offered for long- and short-term stays, and while there are no vehicle height restrictions, there are width restrictions. Ground transportation includes trains, taxis, buses and car rentals.

Exeter Airport Reviews

★★★★☆
Still no improvements even under new management/ownership. Still early days yet!
- Mike Bennett

★★★★★
Could do with an operator like Easy jet to use Exeter as a base, might make Flybe think about their fares and add a much needed reason for the people of the southwest to use Exeter instead of travailing to Bristol also bas better transport links
- John Davy

★★★☆☆
Exeter airport is a small regional airport. Some improvements are finally coming as the security check, while important, takes too long, partly because only one security arch is in operation, despite having two X rays for bags etc, and constant flow of airport staff being allowed to go through. It is ridiculous that they even have to go through there, don't they have security clearance?? The relatively short cue should have meant I'd be trough in about 5 minutes (it would at any other airport), here it took close to 20 minutes, it has been better and also a lot worse on previous flights, which I take weekly.
- Koos Fockens

★★☆☆☆
Run down, poor facilities, though easy, close parking available. Staff are disinterested and distracted, and the auto chec kin/bag drop is so slow it's worse than a normal check in. The whole place feels like someone's about to pull the plug and shut it down! In departures, the board wasn't updating, the cafe floor was filthy and sticky, the staff also didn't look especially hygienic and the croissant was mangled and stale. One (male) toilet (of two) had lost it's handle and so was blocked, and the floor was filthy throughout. Taps worn. Overall, a rather shoddy place to leave from.

★★☆☆☆
Upon arriving at Exeter Airport, which is our local Airport and have used many times. We were the second couple to check in and thought this was going to be quick and easy. How wrong could we be. The check in clerk was foreign and did not ask the usual security questions and then double booked us in row 3 `C` & `D` so had to cancel that and rebook us in row 5 `C` & `D`. After that things got better and off we went. Certainly gone downhill from last time. (2 yrs ago). So I have given 1 star for check in and 2 stars for security questions, but border control was ok.

Upon arriving at Exeter Airport (Tuesday 15th September 2015) for our outward Journey we went straight to check in were the clerk who was foreign did not ask the normal security questions then double booked us in seats that were already taken, so she had to rebook us in 2 more seats. Not a good start. then things picked up until our return on Sunday 20th September 2015, when it got even worse. The Aircraft landed on time and taxied to stand 2/2A, but could not enter stand because a fat lazy marshall decided to take his time crossing from one Aircraft to us. Then we moved. The doors opened and they would not left anybody off for a good 15 mins. We the got to the carousel to wait another 20/30mins before it started. Come on Exeter Airport get your act together!!
- Mike Bennett

★☆☆☆☆
What a terrible airport. Poor facilities, the worst organisation and to be avoided at all costs. The management should spend some time at a "proper" airport and see how things should be done. Security needs a complete review.

★★★★☆
I fly through Exeter at least twice a year. It has greatly improved in the past year with the introduction of the new security area which has speeded up screening considerably. Check in is always quick and parking is close by. The airport has good road connections for those of us living in the South West. It's a good local airport - it's not Gatwick or Heathrow but that's not a bad thing in my view. I've never had any sort of delay travelling into or out of Exeter - I can't say that about 'bigger' airports.
- JuliaW

★★★☆☆
Much improved on last year, with no problems at check-in and straight through security checks which has changed for the better. Well done.
- Mike Bennett

★★★★★
Super fast baggage claim, very convenient airport. The number of routes operated from the airport should increase, though.
