If you believe this data is out of date or incorrect in any way, please contact us and we will get our team of researchers to correct our data.

The Munich Airport has two 4,000-meter concrete runways that saw 417,138 aircraft movements in 2019. Over 338 tons of cargo and 47.9 million passengers arrived and departed in 2019 making this the second-busiest German airport as far as travelers. It has two terminals for passengers and can handle wide bodies like the Airbus A380.

MUC replaced an airport that had outgrown its ability to handle the rising number of air traffic and passengers. This airport is built on the resettled town of Franzheim that 400 people called home. It opened its doors in 1992 and was named after Franz Josef Strauss, a Bavaria politician and pilot. As the air traffic doubled, a second terminal was added in 2003. There are now 266 destinations from MUC.

Parking options include long- and short-term parking spots, EV parking and valet parking. There are buses, trains and rental cars to take you to and from the airport.

Munich Airport Reviews

★★★★★
It was my first transfer flight, it was a pleasure on this airport :) Very helpful crew and grat signs on the airport.
- Mateusz Bednarski

★★★☆☆
There were only two queues to passport control for passengers from 2 simultaneous flights! I've spent about 1h 30min waiting for my turn.
- shelbalart

★☆☆☆☆
Most overrated Airport in the World , been here couple times , on transit and also flew to and From MUC . and on both Terminals waiting areas are just too small, had to wait in an Korridor Food in Transit Areas is just very expensive . Direction signs are sometimes very rare also Flight / Gate Infos which just can be found on very small screens... not my Airport
- Oliver Peitzmann

★★★★★

TERE IS A BIG DIFERENCE BETWEEN T2 and T1 facilities T1 is not at a five star airport level dirty ,old and unconfortable it.s a shame this discrimination
- Yves

★★★☆☆
The quality of Terminal 1 one is very low , dirty , lounges old and access to bathrooms in boarding lounge very bad . Refund taxe open at 6 when your departure are at 7 it,s short . Custom on time but global office never open on time
- Yves

★☆☆☆☆
WIFi registration too complicated. Why do I have to give all my personal details? Only one duty free and a snack bar T1. How to spend 3 hrs only with that?
- Pietro Alfe

★★☆☆☆
Terminal 1 ist für A380 nicht ausgebaut, nur 4 passkontrollen un 2 stunden wartezeit auf das gepäck.
- Prassnigger walter

★★★★★
