Dabolim Airport, also known as the Goa International Airport, is located in Vasco da Gama, in the Indian state of Goa. It is the only airport in Goa, and serves both civil and military needs for transportation. The airport serves more than two million passengers each year, making it one of India’s busiest airports. The facility was initially established by the Portuguese as a Royal Air Force Station in 1955. Today, it is jointly managed by the Indian Navy and the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Dabolim Airport consists of a single runway and multiple passenger terminals. Its primary runway has a length of 2,400 meters and can accommodate aircraft up to Code E on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Pavement Classification Number system. It also has two connecting taxiways – Alpha1 & Alpha2 – to facilitate quick turnaround times for aircraft. Additionally, it boasts an advanced CAT III Instrument Landing System (ILS) that allows pilots to land their planes safely even in low visibility conditions due to fog or smog.

The airport has two modern passenger terminals – Terminal 1 for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights. Terminal 1 is spread over an area of 3300 sqm and houses 12 check-in counters, X-ray baggage scanners, conveyor belts, etc., while Terminal 2 is much larger with a total area of 5500 sqm and 15 check-in counters along with many other amenities such as Immigration counters, Customs counter, Duty Free shops, etc. Passengers can avail various facilities at both terminals such as ATM machines, free Wi-Fi access points around the terminal building complex, car rental services etc.

Apart from civilian use, Dabolim Airport also serves as a forward base for the Indian Navy’s combat jets such as Mirage 2000s & MIG 29Ks which fly out of here regularly for training purposes or joint naval exercises like ‘Malabar’ with friendly nations like Japan & USA. The airport also provides refueling services to all types of aircrafts through its single fuelling station by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). A new cargo complex was inaugurated at Dabolim Airport in December 2018 to further strengthen its capabilities to handle air cargo traffic from across India & abroad.
