It has two asphalt concrete runways; one is 3,707 meters and the other is 3,010 meters long. It served 4.6 million passengers in 2021, which is down from its normal 16 million passengers in 2019. It consists of two terminals, with Terminal 2 having two wings that are connected by a Sky Court where passengers can wait, as well as do their shopping.

BUD began as an idea in 1938 as both a civilian and military use airport. By the end of WWII, much of the airport had been destroyed, so when it reopened in the 1950s, traffic was limited. Between the 1960s and the 1980s, there was a need for further development as traffic reached one million in 1974. This prompted a new control tower, another runway and a new terminal that could handle 3.5 million annual passengers.

Parking is available for short- and long-term parking located near the terminal, as well as at a lot within three to five minutes by foot. There are buses, taxis, trains and rental cars that offer transportation to and from the airport.

Budapest Airport Reviews

★★★★★
Budapest airport is very organised, there are signs everywhere, and there are also many shops. The terminals are clean, but sometimes the WiFi is slow.
- Szűcs Benedek

★★★★☆
One of the nicest airports I've been to that I didn't stay in that country, simply getting to the Airport is a bit hard from where I usually stay which is in Croatia where most of my relatives are, as there is no flight from Dublin-Osijek or Dublin-Belgrade this is particularly tricky but nevertheless the airport itself is still great.
- Electro Septic

★★★★☆
The baggage took a really long time to come! And plus the airport is far from the city so I took even longer to get to the place I was staying at
- Rahul Waslekar

★★★★☆
You get amazing ice cream at the airport! Just near the Costa Coffee. One must leave on time to get the airport. Good wifi, friendly staff and lines at security check weren't too long
- Rahul Waslekar

★★★☆☆
I was a kind of late, so accidentally I ran to the wrong part of the airport. There was not enought signs for me. However I yould ask other crew members and they could help (luckily).
- Eszter

★★★★★
Very nice cozy little airport with good facilities and processes. Christmas time in transit area was enjoyable.
- Muhammed Hamza Arslan

★☆☆☆☆
gate 16 to warsaw is outside of the airport, in a metal hangar, you have to walk outside of teh actual buidling with shops/restaurants/toilets and go to a hangar with no toiltes and no seats (8 seast for the whole line of ppl waiting for each plane)!!! half of that time you queuing oustide in the cold/rain.snow.This is laughable. We didnt get to use the toilets as there were none in there and we thought we were just gping to a regular gate. Security took forever. Some people randomly were let into the queue in front of us 3 of them, not traveling together). Why???they also had baggage and jackets to take off.
- Auri

★★★★★
Well in this instance I was arriving to Budapest Airport, and while it was a bit crowded after my immediate arrival that was understandable, as to be honest many flight to or from the UK have been delayed today, and even if they could, they haven't been able to help the sheer amount of people arriving from various destinations at the same time. Other than that, it was my home airport for 20 years, and all of the time it was a pleasant experience to arrive, or depart from here.
- Mark Szutor

★☆☆☆☆
Very small airport There is no chairs to sit.No wifi and only one small caffee in the corner. To get ther you must to change subway to bus.
- Sławek68

★★★☆☆
When you fly with a low cost carrier, don't go to early to the 'gate' because the terminal for low cost carriers is crap
