Founded in 1978 as Air Berlin USA, airberlin (AB) is Germany’s second-largest airline. It operates from hubs at Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL) and Düsseldorf Airport (DUS). A member of the Oneworld alliance, airberlin flies to about 150 destinations, 17 of which are domestic. Its international destinations span about 40 countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, North America and the Caribbean. airberlin also has codeshare agreements with more than 20 airlines. The majority of airberlin’s fleet of 131 aircraft are configured with a single Economy Class cabin, although the airline does have some Airbus A330-200 planes that also include a Business Class cabin.
